Privacy Policy – Vauban Guard extension
Last updated: October 2026
This privacy policy describes how the Vauban Guard browser extension ("the Extension") handles your data. The Extension does not collect, transmit or sell any data: it runs entirely in your browser and does not talk to any server.
1. Developer and Contact
The Extension is developed and maintained by Vablab.
For any privacy-related questions, please contact us at: contact@vablab.dev.
2. What the Extension inspects
To detect a payment page, the Extension inspects the pages you visit locally: their address, and the presence of card fields, payment buttons and payment-provider frames.
If you entered your hourly wage in the settings, it also reads the prices shown to display their equivalent in working time.
It does not read what you type into forms (card number, address, etc.) and none of this analysis leaves your browser.
3. Data stored on your device
The Extension keeps the following in its local storage, in your browser only:
- The pairing key that links the Extension to your Vauban app.
- Your settings: excluded sites, unlock code length, and your hourly wage and currency if you enter them.
- Dashboard statistics: for each blocked payment, the site name, the date and the outcome (approved or abandoned). No amount, no product, no page address. History is limited to the last 1000 entries.
4. Exchanges with the mobile app
The Extension and the Vauban app only communicate through QR codes shown on screen: no network is used. A payment QR code contains the site name and an unlock code, encrypted with the pairing key (AES-256-GCM).
5. Third-Party Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties. The Extension contains no analytics, no advertising and no remotely loaded code.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
- Retention: Data is kept in your browser as long as the Extension is installed.
- Deletion: To delete all your data, simply uninstall the Extension.
